Digital Certificate setup on Linux server

An SSL Certificate is a digitally signed certificate that establishes the identity of a website and uses encryption to send data to the website.

SSL Certificates are generally used when a website wants to accept sensitive information like passwords, credit card details and other sensitive information.

We offer the following three types of certificates:
  • Comodo SSL
  • Positive SSL
  • Positive SSL Wildcard

Comodo SSL and Positive SSL provide security for one Domain Name and is best suited for small websites and blogs.
Positive SSL Wildcard provides security for the primary Domain Name as well as its sub-domains, and is best suited for large e-commerce websites.

The certificate is issued by a trusted authority known as a Certificate Authority (CA).

Note: At the time of placing the SSL Certificate order for a domain you need to mention just the naked domain name without www.However the Certificate Authority(CA) would issue a certificate that would support both yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com

After you purchase an SSL Certificate order, you will need to first complete a verification process with the Certificate Authority in order to get your final Certificate.

Here we go through the steps to apply for a digital certificate.

For demonstration purposes we are going to install a digital certificate for domain4demo.in which is hosted on our linux reseller hosting server.
